CloudEject ("we", "us", "our") is a mobile application that allows users to archive their Gmail emails directly to their phone's private app storage, and then free up Google storage by moving those emails to Gmail Trash or emptying Trash and Spam. CloudEject is developed and operated by an independent developer based in New Zealand. You can reach us at info@cloudeject.com.
To provide its core functionality, CloudEject requests the following permissions from your Google account via OAuth 2.0:
https://mail.google.com/): To search and read
the emails you choose to save (headers, body text and attachment files), to move saved emails
to Trash when you ask, to permanently delete the contents of Trash and Spam when you
confirm, to put a saved email back into your mailbox when you ask, to place an attachment-free copy of an email in your mailbox when you choose "Slim" (the original then goes to Trash), and — only when you tap
"Auto-clean" for a sender — to create a Gmail label ("CloudEject/Auto-clean") and a filter so
that sender's future mail skips your Inbox. You can see and remove those filters in the app or in
Gmail settings. Permanent deletion and filter management are only available under this scope,
which is why it is requested.drive.metadata.readonly): To retrieve
your Google storage quota (total used, Drive usage, Drive trash size) and to list the names,
types and sizes of your Drive files for the read-only Drive view. CloudEject does not download,
change or delete Drive files with this permission.CloudEject's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
All data accessed through Google APIs is used exclusively to perform the archiving function you request. Specifically:
We do not use your data for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any purpose beyond the direct service you requested.
CloudEject does not operate any servers or cloud infrastructure. Saved emails are stored locally on your device in the app's private storage, which Android protects from other apps. They are not separately encrypted at rest; on-device encryption is planned. All communication with Google uses HTTPS.
We have no access to your saved emails. If you lose your device or uninstall the app, they cannot be recovered by us. Emails moved to Gmail Trash can be restored from Gmail for 30 days; emails you permanently delete cannot.
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data or Google account data with any third party, advertiser, or data broker — ever.
The only third-party service involved in CloudEject's operation is:
CloudEject offers a 7-day free trial and then a one-time in-app purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play; CloudEject never receives your card or billing details. The app keeps only a small record on your phone (when the trial started and whether the unlock was purchased, plus the Google Play purchase token needed to confirm and restore it). This record is not sent to us or anyone else. Emails you saved remain readable, exportable and restorable whether or not you buy.
If you turn on App lock, Android checks your fingerprint, face or PIN; CloudEject only receives "unlocked" or "not unlocked" and never sees or stores biometric data. Reminders you switch on are scheduled on your phone as local notifications; nothing is sent through any server.
If you switch on "Run in the background", Android lets CloudEject wake up now and then (by default only while charging on Wi-Fi) to run the auto-pilot rules you created. It does exactly what the rules do when you open the app — save matching emails to your phone and, only if you chose it for that rule, move the saved copies to Gmail Trash — using the same Google permissions, directly between your phone and Google. The weekly summary and the "storage almost full" alert are built on your phone from your own activity log and Google's storage numbers, and shown as local notifications. Nothing is sent to any server.
CloudEject does not retain any of your data on any server. Saved emails, settings, rules and the daily storage snapshots live on your device under your full control and are removed when you uninstall the app or use "Delete all saved emails" in Settings.
Google account access tokens are held in memory only for the duration of your session. They are not written to disk.
You have full control over your data at all times:
CloudEject is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
